Mississippi Arts Commission invests in our state’s makers through a variety of grant programs supporting nonprofit organizations, educational institutions, and individual artists. Are you an organization or a professional artist looking to fund your project?
Mark your calendar for the State Arts Conference, which will be held Thursday, May 12 at the Two Mississippi Museums in downtown Jackson. Events will also be held the day before on Wednesday, May 11 for specific audiences. The conference theme, speakers, sessions, and more will be announced soon.
This Sunday on Mississippi Arts Hour, MAC emeritus director Malcolm White guest hosts the show and talks with Marcy Fischer Nessel, owner of Fischer Galleries in Jackson. They discuss her initial years in gallery work, working for the late photographer and gallery owner James Patterson, the development of Fischer Galleries and the artists who she currently exhibits. The 2022 Poetry Out Loud State Championship will premiere on MPB Television on April 29 at 8 p.m. Eight finalists will compete for the title of State Champion. Learn more about this annual contest.
